Hi, I’m a second year BA student studying in Kolkata. I have to submit an essay on ‘My Favourite Place’ for my English class but I’m totally stuck. Can someone please give me some tips and ideas to make my essay more interesting?
You should start with describing what makes that place your favourite – the sights, smells, things you associate with it. Then maybe add an anecdote or story from a memory you have there. End by explaining why you want to keep visiting that place. Hope this helps!
Classics like To Kill A Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby are always good starters. For something modern try Life of Pi, The Kite Runner or The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Check out Guy de Maupassant and Oscar Wilde, their short stories are damn good especially ‘The Necklace’ and ‘The Canterville Ghost’.
