I am a second year mbbs student and was selected through neet. i feel the one year bridge course we had to adjust from high school to medical studies was not very useful. Most of it was rote learning and didnt really prepare me to understand the large volumes of information in the actual mbbs course. Did anyone else have a similar experience with the bridge course? How can we make it more effective? Any tips for junior mbbs students?

The bridge course was helpful to get an overview but I agree it doesnt prepare us for the actual mbbs course. Making it more systems based and integrating clinical case studies would make it more useful.

The bridge course needs a complete overhaul. It should focus more on developing problem solving, critical thinking and self study skills which are essential to survive medical school!

Honestly i dont think the bridge course made any difference. The only way to prepare for mbbs is lots of self study, reading textbooks and practicing questions. Dont worry too much about the bridge course.

You have a valid point. The bridge course needs to be redesigned with more hands on learning and develop higher order cognitive skills to prepare students for the challenges of medical school. Just rote learning wont help much!
