Hey guys, I’m having trouble with this dynamics problem for my engineering course. I need to find the acceleration of a cart attached to two springs. Can anyone help explain how to solve this?
Dude chill, it’s just a couple springs. Pull up the formulas for spring force and acceleration and go through the steps. You got this!
Try drawing a free body diagram first. Label all the forces acting on the cart – the weight, normal force, and spring forces. Then sum the forces in the x and y directions and set them equal to mass times acceleration. You’ll have 2 equations with 2 unknowns – acceleration and one of the spring forces. Solve for acceleration. Let me know if you need more help!
