I’m a third year engineering student pursuing computer science but don’t have much exposure with coding languages as college projects were not that helpful. Now I’ve applied to a few internships where they expect me to know languages like C++, Java and SQL. I don’t have enough time to learn from scratch, what should I do to clear these internships?
Don’t worry too much. Just be honest during interviews that you’re still learning but eager to pick up quickly on the job. Focus on basics and problem solving skills. That matters more.
Just fake it till you make it.During the interview, act like you know the basics and are a fast learner. Once you get the internship, put in extra hours to really learn the requirements. You’ll pick it up as you go.
You’re smart enough to get into a good college, you can definitely pick up those languages if you put in focused efforts. Don’t lose hope. Start with the basics, find some online courses or tutorials and practice a lot. You’ve got this!
Those companies only want interns who can code, so might be difficult to clear the interviews. But you still have time, try learning the basics of at least 1-2 languages from online sources and practice a lot of coding questions. All the best!
