    Hey everyone, I’m an Indian engineering student specializing in Mechanical Engineering and I’m facing a doubt regarding thermodynamics. Can someone please help me understand the concept of entropy? I’m finding it quite confusing. Thanks in advance!

    Entropy can be a tricky concept to grasp, but think of it this way: it’s like a measurement of how spread out things are. When the entropy of a system increases, it means that the energy is spreading out and becoming more diluted. It’s like a messy room, the more disorganized it is, the higher the entropy.     Entropy is like a measure of the “randomness” or “disorder” in a system or process. It quantifies the how much information is missing to fully describe a system. The higher the entropy, the more disordered the system is. Can be tricky to understand, but keep at it, you’ll get it!

    To put it simply, entropy is a measure of the thermal energy that cannot be used to do work. It’s the measure of chaos, randomness, or disorder in a system. Basically, it tells us how much energy is wasted in a process, how much is converted to heat but cannot perform useful work.
