I’m a high school student who uses social media a lot. While it connects me with my friends, I’m noticing negative effects too. Can someone share advise on how to use social media in a balanced way?
Limit your usage to certain times of the day instead of all the time. Check notifications only during those specific times instead of constantly. This will help you focus on real life interactions and hobbies.
Delete social media apps from your phone, and only access them on a laptop or computer. This makes it less spontaneous and convenient, so you’ll use them less overall. Just make sure not to miss important messages from friends or family.
Realize that social media often shows an unrealistic highlight reel of people’s lives. Don’t compare yourself to the curated photos and stories you see there. Focus on living your own real life to the fullest.
